Hi, if it has been that long since you had this done before, then it should be ok. The chemicals they use do damage the hair, but the hair is constantly growing, and only the hair that has been treated before will be at more risk.
If your hair is in good condition and you do not use lots of other chimicals on it,such as bleach or hair dyes, and you do not burn your hair by using a lot of heat (hair dryer set on high heat setting, hair straightners) on it, then you should be ok.
When you go to get your hair done, they should check that your hair is in good condition before they carry out any chemical treatment so you should be ok.
Hope this helps

No Be happy with what you have. Straightening is terrible on your hair. After I had my done by a great hair salon, I lost 3 inches and still dealing with the effects of it 3 years later. If you have naturally curly hair......dont do it

if your hair is already weak i wouldn't risk it, but using straigheners isn't good either, just go natural for a while, you might just prefer to straighten your hair on nights out or just a couple of times a week,
permament straightening will only work on the hair that is already there, it won't make the hair that hasn't grown yet straight, so you will have to get it done time and time again

Sounds like it's time to get the end's trimmed at least. Once every 6 months is safe if the are using the right products for your hair type.

You have wavy/curly hair??? you lucky lucky person. After three years why not try a change of style and go natural, give your hair a rest. I bet you'll look great!

I would probably give it a break for a couple of months at least if not longer. You might find you like having different hair anyway. They do say that a change is as good as a rest afterall.

i have the same situation like yours. i even get my hair colored. if you are faithful with your treatments...there should be no problem. 1 year for your hair to rest is good enough. you should just really be faithful to take care of your hair so it would regain its strength. if you don't dye your hair there really shouldn't be a problem. Be careful though because whatever treatments you do consistently will have effects later on.

Chemicals will cause your hair to continue to come out, keep using your alternative method.
