I cannot quite work out how to support the rock to ensure the water drains back into the "pond" below. The pond of course would be hidden from view by smaller stones around the base of the rock.

Set up a mock-up of what you want to achieve using a hose to represent the water feature. When you turn it on, you will get some idea of flow direction and how it will look, and if its not right, you will at least be able to play about with it till you get it how you want it to be. I would suggest using waterproof cement as a fixative when you set up your final design, to bed your rock into, and any visible bits of cement can be hidden by pressing smaller stones into it, and then using trailing plants as a feature. I'd love a waterfeature in my garden, but I'm disabled and cant fit one!! (E-x garden designer)

you've some topics the following. Your water that leaves even as this is became off - this is portion of what's stated as your 'water in transit', the region section is what can not be contained through your decrease vessel even as became off. A surge tank can treatment this, as can different options - yet i'd ought to ensure it. Leaving it on 25/7 can get rid of this outcome - till someone has to artwork on it. Off or not - no matter if it really is a sterile pond, you could in ordinary words desire 4 hrs an afternoon for the sanitization, in the journey that your stream is optimal. If its a unmarried pump setup, then override the timer to get the seem (once you've a waterfall or fountain) once you want it. If it really is a stay pond, then it extremely desires to run for all time. those factors are all portion of a perfect waterfeature layout. regrettably, in this marketplace, a lot of persons and others are growing issues which have the attributes you describe - and much extra. this is like the professor of panorama structure on the college of Arizona stated, 'A waterfeature this is not correct designed and/or outfitted is a planter waiting to ensue'. good success!

There are kits for this. Try a local nursery/garden center. Some specialize in water features. I built one like this (except that the pond was not hidden). I hired a guy with front-end loader to dig the pond and pile the dirt beside it, then place the rocks where I directed him. I landscaped around it and it's lovely!

depends on the area you are working on but if you build the land up with soil and sand then lay a area of pond liner you could then lay the stones on to that any water then that misses the stone will still run back into the pond via the liner.

Don't know where you live, Alan, but there's a place called Badger's Mount Garden Centre at Chilham in Kent where they have preformed rock cascades for sale. I believe there is a choice of different types of rock - may be worth getting a catalogue from them. My daughter has one and it looks spectacular.
