First of all, that is an ambitious endeavor. The market is saturated with candles, oils, skin care right now. You will need a niche that will attract people.
My first suggestion is to custom mix fragrances. As I'm sure you know, many fragrances and oils have different uses for different ailments, conditions etc. Find out what they are, and mix accordingly, on a "customized" basis.
Suggestion #2: gemstones gemstones!! Many of these are believed to have different properties as well. Use beads to create different bracelets and necklaces customized to your customers needs and requests. If you need a great site for this see Firemountain' site- Fabulous selection and prices!!
Lastly, word of mouth is great advertising- and best of all FREE. Give products to friends- small samples so they can spread the word. Do this before Christmas time- end of October would be great.
I wish you the best of luck in this, and hope this helped some.

Hi Kristie
Lots of people are interested in the whole eco friendly issue and the no harmful chemicals issue.
There is a company that has a whole range of products that address these issues who are also in the preventative health arena too.
They do have essential oils which are of the highest quality, all 100% pure and many products, personal care, cat and dog care, gel nails, anti aging skin care and many more that have been OK'd by the Cancer Prevention Coalition Its a one stop shop.
You are able to access these products at a wholesale rate through me and become an independant distributor. Please let me know if you are interested in taking a look..

Hi. Gee, I always thought about doing that. I am very proud of you. How about adding some "services"? I have been in gift shops that also had massage, card reading, yoga, etc. You could also think of offering classes if you have the space. That would pull people in to the store. The items I notice sell very well are the Egyptian things. Have some spiced tea and give your customers free access to it while they shop. Again, good luck! I will be pulling for you, sister!

I like the idea of a 'blending bar' for essential oils. This could be for perfumes, body oils and lotions, bath oil, salt scrub and clay packs. Sell the base material w/out essential oils, suggest some recipes and let customers recommend their favorites. Question is...do you let the customers loose with the EO's or do you do it 'behind the counter' for them.
