SAP or SAP AG, as the company is officially known as, was started as Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung in Germany. Later the company was renamed to Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung.

Baan to the best of my knowledge has no expansion and was named after its founder.
