You can get prosecuted for leaving a dog in the car with the windows up in the first place.

I think it would depend, you would definitely have to call the police first and log the problem or the owners could say you did it to steal something in their car or the car itself. It would also depend on how long the dog is in the car and if it is very hot. Having the dog stay on a nice fall day for 5-10 minutes with the windows down a bit is not a crime.

Nope, criminal damage I'm afraid, although I doubt you'd get much more than a smack on the wrist. Call the police as it's illegal to leave a dog in a car with the window shut. They can smash it.
Also, the dog may well chew your face off.
However, if it comes right down to it and the dog looks really ill, I'd smash it and worry about the concequences later.

No.
The RSPCA or Police can because we have powers that ordinary citizens do not.
If you were to smash it you COULD be liable for the costs of the broken window and/or arrest for criminal damage. And once you've done it, what do you physically do with the dog?
You should just call the Police straight away.
All cops prefer animals to humans so we'd be there in a flash and we love breaking things!!

if you see an animal inside a car in distrest go ahead and smash the window to rescue him. you wont have any trouble with the car owner as he would want to get away asap for the simple reason he is also committing an offence by leaving the animal in the car without ventilation, so i say to everyone if you come across that situation, although your committing an offence , dont give it a thought, the animal comes first, and if its a pretty lady and its her pet she might even give you a hug and kiss.

That befell to me once...I advise, I observed a baby in a automobile in a carpark. the newborn became asleep, the living house windows rolled up. It became summer season. I had not something on me to interrupt the window, and in view that i have in no way had to interrupt a automobile window, i did not understand how lengthy it might take. So I went into the save and advised them, they presented a policeman out with them. The mom back through then, and that i left all of them to address the region. the element is, what in case you do not have something to interrupt the window with? you should ask your self, is it extra time-useful to stay the following attempting to rescue the baby, or would this is extra time-useful to run into the save and make contact with a save individual and the police? Or, if I figure it may be extra constructive, i'd use my cellular and make contact with the police. i love animals, yet I even ought to say, I placed a more effective precedence on human existence than on animal existence. i'd genuinely record a dogs in a locked up automobile on a warm summer season day. i don't believe of i'd ruin a window for a dogs...yet as I stated, I probably would not ruin a window besides, realistically talking. I locked myself out of my own living house, once. i tried to interrupt the window to get in. VERY not ordinary element to do. So, i understand a automobile window will be much more durable. this is not a remember of heroics, yet a remember of the wisest use of time.

Simple answer is, NO.
You could be charged with Criminal Damage or Breaking & Entering or Attempting to Comit a Felony.
You would also have to pay for the replacement window.
Call either a dog protection agency or the police.

It is criminal damage unfortunately. You could probably plead some form of defence, as it would be what the 'reasonable man' would do. You might have to reimburse the person as to the cost of his car window, but it is illegal to leave a dog in a car without ventillation so you might not even have to do that.

I am not sure, but if there was a dog inside and it was hot outside I would really consider it because of all the horrible stories I have read about dogs dying from heat exposure, I would worry about the law later.

No, sorry, you have to dial 911 and get animal control or the locals to break the window. Now if it's a human baby? Then if you feel it's life threatening you can do it, but still call for the EMT's first.
