The AutoCAD area of CADTutor is the best place to start if you need to learn how to use AutoCAD. There are currently over 40 original tutorials to help you get started and more tutorials are under construction.

Each tutorial is a comprehensive description of the topic area and includes worked examples. For example, if you need to learn about the AutoCAD Object Snap tools, go to the Object Snap Tutorial. There, you will learn how to use all of the object snaps, how to use tracking, how to set running object snaps and you can complete some simple worked examples to help you understand what's going on.

Autocad is one of the most complicated softwares on the market. Courses range from 2-3 years. It's definitely something extremely difficult to study alone without a tutor.

Post an add on the "Services" or "Barter" page of you local craigslist.org site saying something like this:

"NEEDED: Someone to tutor/train an individual on the basics of autocad"

You may want to add how much you are willing to pay or you may have something you would be willing to trade.

It's a hard but rewarding program. once you get the basics down, the rest will fall into place. I'm using 2002 version and still haven't mastered it.

this is a decent tutor site:

If you have the time you can teach yourself but the online tutors and by reading the help files that come with it.
But I recommend taking a community college course. Drafting experience is help too. good luck
