I think he claims to have had a unique experience. I tend to believe people (now) who talk to and hear the LORD. I used to doubt until my own experience blew my mind and increased my faith. NDW believes that God is life, you can access Him within yourself, you can see things as God sees them and so do I. But he believes his own stuff too, that which I tend to strongly disagree with: many paths lead to God. On that I disagree, again, but I'm thankful for his writings, they're good. So, as with most things about God and faith outside of the bible and my own worship, I take some things and leave many. What do YOU think?

Believing, as I do, in the concept of Immanuel ("god-with-us" or "god-within-us"), I found many of Walsch's insights interesting and provocative. But, ultimately, and regrettably, I think he is playing with language and attempting to market his own materials more than seriously examining a new insightful theology. By assuming to speak with the voice of God, he assumes and relies dramatically upon a personal God seprarate from humankind at the same time that he is rationally denying such a possibility. I do not see him struggling with the difficulty of the finite human mind seeking to experience, much less comprehend, Infinity, the infinite mind of a divine being.

Wikipedia accurately summarizes a critical problem with his public stance: "He created Humanity's Team as a spiritual movement whose purpose is to communicate and implement New Spirituality beliefs, particularly that we are all one with God and one with life, in a shared global state of being. Walsch has met with some criticism for what some see as appearing overly zealous in finding ways to make money for his spin-off organizations."
