There appear to be some scientific evidence in support of this. I find it somewhat hard to believe, I must say. The results where not that strongly significant, let's wait and see if the can be reproduced. The below article has been cited twice, one by the same journal and one by another "alternative" one (journal of holistic nursing).

Obviously plants have souls and can be happy and/or feel pain.
