If you mean foreign languages generally, so we can communicate with those who speak that foreign language and don't speak our language, so we can read books, view movies and tv programmes in that foreign language and understand them, because that foreign language just happens to personally interest us.
If you mean english in particular, because english is the numerically universal language, a vast majority of the planet's human inhabitants speak (or can speak) english.

LEARN not lern! I think you have to study a bit more! I'm italian and I've lived in the UK for a while to learn english...because I needed it to work. Good luck to you.

So that we can understand what someone is saying if they're speaking to us in a different language, or so that if we go to the land of that language and need to ask for something, we'll know what to say to them.

to understand other people to communicate with them
to know other cultures to learn how to respect the others
many people learn different languages
i learnt 4 different ones and im still learning them
you can learn languages by practicing them with others
any language course will be useful for you :)

coz we communicate with people from different regions n globally maximum people communicate in english .what region r u from if u find it difficult i m 4m india
