Your first car should be something you can afford to maintain and fuel. Your budget and abilities will determine alot. Do not buy something that is has outrageous repair bills like a bmw or other high end cars. Even if they are cheap right now the repair bills of a used car should be considerd because you will have them. If you are planning on a new car go with something that has a huge warranty program and dont forget to check on the insurance because some cost alot more to insure. Get a car facts report from one of the online services and if its used get it looked at by a reputable repair shop to see if it has any hidden problems. Check with motor trend magazine or car and driver they have online sources and they rate them for owners cost and reliability, in short use your head not what looks coolest for your first car unless your loaded, in which case the skies the limit! Good luck, lvtaride@yahoo.com if you have more Qs

a 1949 Plymouth special deluxe 4 door for 35 dollars drove it around fire trails [was around 8 or 9 at the time] it did not last long but was a good learning experience. purchase the best you can afford and then keep it properly maintained avoid costly American cars that are always breaking down and anything that has no records of service.

My first car was a 1986 ford escort. it was a light blue, and wasn't too bad of a car for a young 17 year old... My advice to you is to take care of what you get and earn what you get! I am 29 years old and i have worked since i was 13. I say to save your money, and dont buy stupid stuff. I now drive a 2006 BMW 325i?? i saved my money, and worked hard. I also took care of my first car just as good as my bimmer so, take care.
