My husband walked out on me in Easter this year and I contacted the CSA to help me get some financial help towards our daughter. The CSA wrote back and said he should pay £43.97 a week. My ex now says he will quit his job before either I or his daughter gets any money from him.

What should I do?

Go to a family solicitor , If your Ex stops working you could notify
the agency that pays his benefit.
I have been through all that and my Ex ended up being taken to court by his own daughter !!!!! when she went to college and needed more support than I could give her.
He lost out in the end .Sad ,but I wish you luck !

Hon some women need financial help for the children some don't. But I raised all five of my children after the divorce with out the child support. Monday they are going to see there father for the first time since they were babies (NOT MY CHOICE HE DIDN'T SEE THEM ALL ALONG HIS CHOICE) I worked several jobs at a time 7 days a week but they never went without. When you receive money from the father all you do is ask for drama in your life my children are now in there 30's and 40's they feel I made the right choice. Let the Idiot go he'll realize way down the road in the years to come what a terrible mistake he made. Your children will be much happier and grow up secure in the knowledge thet there mother was a wonderful person and love you all the more for it. By the way all my children still live near me and I have 13 fabulous grandchildren that come and see me daily. I have what he never will have there love. Good Luck Grandma Rosey

hey! what the CSA say and what actually happens can be worlds apart sometimes, my experience of the CSA is that if you call each monday morning and keep on their backs they do respond, they are supposed to be there for people like yourself,if you just leave it hoping for the best they forget about you, the cost of a phonecall is a lot less expensive than lawyers. My ex up and left me with a six year old son 4 years ago its been a battle ever since and yes we had a statuary deduction of earnings slapped on the scumbag, he's gone AWOL, he's been at my door threatening me and now he's just quit his job, my advice would be to keep in touch with the csa for the time being coz he will owe maintenance to you if CSA have done an assessment and the arrears will build up (my ex owes over £5,000) i wish you good luck and keep strong!

Have you asked about an attachment of earnings being put on his wages? Otherwise, if he quits his job, there's not a lot you can do, I was in this situation many years ago, a court had stated what the maintenance should be, then the CSA promptly changed it when they come into being, I managed to sort things out amicably, so good luck!

Unfortunately, the CSA are crap. I had to wait nearly 2 years before i got anything for my 2 children.
The CSA eventually caught up with him but he has also now quit his job & im back to sqaure one.
Theres nothing really you can do apart from find out where he does work, if he gets off his lazy *** & then grass him up & they may be able to arrange a detachment of earnings so he has no choice until he againm quits his job.
Its a crap system & a lot of hassle.

You can drag him through the court. I am in the same position and quite frankly cant be bothered going to court cos I feel that my boys and myself have been through enough. My ex thought he had a hold on us because we would need to go for him for money so I took on extra work and can proudly say we manage ok. Some months are tight but we get by and we are doing it all on our own which is a great feeling and a real kick in the teeth to my ex. Good luck and stay strong .

If he quits his job for this reason he wont get a penny from the Social. So unless he has other funds, I would assume he's just bluffing, and if he isn't bluffing, he will be screwed.

He appears to hate both of you equally, you could always ask him why he believes his daughter is worthy of his contempt.

Separation is a pain - but the situation appears to confirm that your both best apart - cant give any further advice as don't know enough about the situation...

the CSA will chase him up! even if he leaves work he will av to get another job and they have his natinal insurance num so he can't avoid it, it is taken out of he eages and he will have to back date the money to you!

and av u herd the new law that is ment to be coming in! it says that men that get away with out pay child support run the risk of been tagged and they have to surrender their passports!

so try not to worry he will av to pay!

Your ex is obviously the scummiest of the scum.

Don't fret.. Go and see a solicitor.. let them sort it out for you - you'll be able to get legal aid.

Good Luck!

approach his employer. if he quits, and signs up for benefit, they will get the money for you, befor giving it to him
why not tell his mother and his friends.
why not go leafletting and tell his neighbours
how much is his car worth.. wait til it mounts up, then sue him for the ammount owed in small claims court.. and say you would settle for his car, or a selection of goods...
