A friend of mine suffered abuse from the age of 5 until he was 14 (he is now 22) his abuser was his step father. He says he forgives his step father, but would never trust him again not even if he was cured. To be frank neither would I trust a paedophile no matter what they had done to be cured. The question is could you? Because ot the extra senative nature of this question i will report all those who leave abusive answers. Please only sensible answers for this sensative subject.

I do not believe paedophiles could ever be cured as it is an intrinsic part of who they are, their sexuality can no more be cured than can a heterosexual or homosexual. All that can be done is for them to abstain from any sexual activity. I would not trust a paedophile just as I would not trust a convicted rapist solely because the actions they take to gain self gratification involve putting non consenting women and children at risk of violence and worse. I understand there are paedophiles who would not act upon their urges but to trust their willpower can never be assessed as a calculated risk. For the potential victim the price is to high.

I was sexually abused from age 9 until I was 15 by my stepfather as a result I stopped trusting men. At the time I did not know females could do this. He died when I was 22, I am now a grandmother and it is like I have 44 eyes because I don't trust anyone around my babies. God says to forgive, but how do you forget. Don't trust him.

I have worked with paedophiles and I wouldn't trust them for a moment with a young child. They believe that what they do they do for love and no amount of talking, counselling or whatever can convince them otherwise. There is no cure, if it is part of their human nature or psyche I feel sorry for them, BUT cannot understand how they think like this and as I say no, no, no to trusting them.

A paedophile is never cured history proves that they at some stage have suffered abuse, therefore it is repetitive. But my answer is I would never trust anyone who has violated someone who is too young to defend themselves or for that matter anyone who has been subjected to such an horrific ordeal. Your friend should be commended for taking himself forward.

I don't think a paedophile can be cured, even let free after they are caught, and as for trust, never trust a paedophile if they are alive, only trust the dead ones.

To be honest I think it depends on why that person is a peadophile.

A very small number ofr peadophiles are actully attracted to youths as a straight man is to a woman and a gay man is to a man. It is their natural attraction and i dont think there is anything you can do about this, However i would trust this kind, as they are as likley to abuse a child as a normal man is to abuse a woman.

You see in the majority of rape and abuse cases, attraction really dosent enter in to it, it is mostly about power. When someone wants to rape someone elese, they wont care what they look like, or how old they are, it is about them being in control of a situation and about them haveing power over another peerson. These are the dangerous people.

A "Natural" peadophile is as likly to rape a child as you and me, they can control their urges like we can, and for the most part will live a good life.

I don't think this is curable as I don't think its an illness to be honest with you. I think people who participate in this type of stuff deem it an illness as a cop out for thier actions. Don't put this vile behaviour in the same category as cancer or other illness that people suffer from. paedophiles do not suffer there victims suffer. No way should these people get a second chance, there victims never get a second shot at their childhood do they????

No, no, no. Never under any circumstances. My brother (aged 31) sexually abused my daughter, then aged 13, and 'got off' with 12 months due to claiming mental problems. He, like other paedophiles, is a liar, sneaky cunning, conniving and will never change. He will do it again, and again until he is permanently removed from the world.

You can't cure paedophiles because they're sexually attracted to children. You can't change the way someone feels sexually. I would never trust a paedophile, and if I was ever abused, I would slaughter my abuser.
