First you need a sales tax license next a employer id number next department of agraculture license next follow osha rules since employyees could be harmed from pets.nextyou need public bathrooms that are ada compliant and a handycap ramp to enter store and liability insurance incase some employee is killed during a robbery next you will need to go to township zoning board and get a special or conditional use permit also will need a sign permit if you sign is over a certain size your township can help with the rules on that. Also if you are building a new building then you need a building permit and adriveway permit. If it is already a existing building such as a strip mall then you will not have to worry about building permit however you will need to sign a lease,If you plan on operating from your home then you will need a commercial driveway permit from the state and business insurance incae somebody gets hurt on your property because homeowners will not coverthis if you are running business in home.So you think you want to run your own business?have fun.

The industry is highly regulated so there's alot to consider before slapping an OPEN sign on a business. In addition to the licenses, your daughter will need to consider the market for a pet shop. The best way to do that is with a business plan. If she needs help with that and for all kinds of FREE start up help, contact either COSE (Council of Small Enterprise) or SBA (Small Business Administration) which will team her up with professionals. There are plenty of organizations out there eager to assist new entrepreneurs but you have to find them. They cannot find you. NOTE: Don't wait for your ship to come in ... Swim out to meet it.
