Pop Idol Originally Came from the Uk. Then Simon Brought it to the USA after it being a success in the UK.

pop idol neither came from the usa or uk, it came from the bowels of hell, and was sent as a punishment on the world, for our continuous lust for war and oil.

well technically pop idol was first on uk tv before american ideol, but pop idol was a variation on postars which was looking for a pop group that was a program which was first on australian tv, So really Australia first had it but that formats been around for years us had making the band the gong show and so on, the uk had opportunity knox and starmaker so its been around everywhere for years

It definately started in the uk because the show was dying on its feet on its first day until a certain Gareth Gates walked through the door and stole the hearts of millions of teenage girls,the rest as they say is history
