The heat could cause the gas pressure to rise to high and then the container could explode
( usually glass, which isn't good)

now firstly in the process of distillation the liqiud that is distilled is converted into vapour-----that is the gaseous state,now if the distillation process is carried out in a cmpletly closed apparatus then with no vent then......as the vapous get collected in the apparatus,the pressure inside the container increases.......n finally an exterme case would be that the container may crack or it may burst...leading an accident

gas is a byproduct of distillation & frementation. if you do not vent, the distillation apparatus will explode

the vapor produced will build up an enormous pressure and will most likely explode the container. this is true in the lab with glass as well as industry with big huge steel vessels....they explode too.

Because it builds up gass and it may explode, i have seen it happen in yr 8 science. some idiot did that.

the gases coming out of the mixture while heating can lead the flask to explode....
