It's at about a year old, so if you want it in weeks I'd say 52 - 70 weeks.

Kids begin putting sounds together very young. Baby babble begins as early as 4-5 months old. Babies might string together sounds like ba-ba, ma-ma, da-da. To most parents they believe their child is now saying mama and dada, which they are, but the child will not attach the word mama to his mother until 9-10+ like wise with dada. But just because your child doesn't know what they are saying has meaning they are talking in their own language. To sum it up they begin being vocal with sounds you understand 4-5 months (babies begin cooing at 2 months) and they begin attaching words to people and things 9 months to a year

Every baby is different, but all 3 of mine said mama and dada by 4 months (roughly 18 weeks). My 11 month old can say mama, dada, bubba (she has 2 brothers), hi, bye, no, up, what's that, and who's that. And she knows what they mean.

It depends on the baby. some are extremely early in understanding language and others dont manage it until htey are well over a year old. so it can be anything from scary young, to two or three years old and it is not unusual. If your baby is talking back to you at a very early age then talk back!!!!!
