A prsioner will be relased " At the King's Plaeasure" means that there is no fixed term to serve and no date for parole. It means he can stay as long as the King wants - i.e. indefinitely. Though this seems harsh, it might be intended for someone who shows no remorse and could be a danger to society if released. Hope this helps.

if someone is detained at the King's pleasure meaning that this person's life is subjected to the will of the King and which is even worst than just being in a prison because anything goes wrong you are in for a lot more trouble. So don't fool around when detained at the King's pleasure
