Depends on the frequency with which you take on the services of a prostitute and her cost.
Let's see, 4 factors for both sides:
Prostitute:
1) No dealing with a woman's neuroses; she's gone from your life after the transaction.
2) Guaranteed results for money invested at her fair market value (if you employ her services in a place where this practice is legal and therefore subject to free-market economics).
3) As long as she is not a streetwalker, she may engage in safer sex practices than most younger wives.
4) You know exactly what you are getting in to.

Wife:
1) Will expect continued, steady investment of cash resources with no guaranteed return on investment for you.
2) Long-term: assume that your chance for a split equals the divorce rate for your demographic. Factor in the cost of what she may take from you.
3) She may offer support during emotional crises, but you can get this type of benefit from trained professionals or trusted friends with potentially better results.
4) If she gets pregnant, regardless of whether it was a mutual decision, you have committed yourself to a 20-year moneysink.

Decide for yourself.

It depends on what perspective you look at it from - from that of being the wife or a prostitute, or being a husband.

If from a husband's perspective, prostitutes will cost more up front and there are more risks.

A wife is less expensive and fewer risks.

Risks include disease, treatments, prescription medications, and one risk that many men don't think of - some prostitutes lure their clients into a place of privacy where two other men proceed to beat the living hell out of him, take his wallet and cash and credit cards and maybe his car, and then leave the client in a condition that needs emergency care. And in a state of cirucmstances that makes it difficult, if not impossible, to explain to the wife later on.

So I'd pick the wife as the best source for sex, even if you periodically treat her to dinner, flowers and special gifts.

A prostitute, cos you only pay for each time. With a wife you have lots of extra day to day expenses. Then there's the chance of kids, a huge cost, plus when a hooker leaves you that's it, when a wife leaves, kiss your assets goodbye.
