firstly I think this is a question for business and not society & culture, having said that I would answer that yes customer is always right. ecept when he refuses to pay the cost of the purchase. if you win a arguement with the customer you might loose the sale, so it is always better to loose the arguement but win the sale.

Judging by the way they treat people these days, I would say the customer is not valued enough to be treated with appreciation for spending their hard-earned dollars.

The customer is almost always wrong, they just don't read the small print. however, no business will ever tell them that directly.
