I lost a shoe like this a few days ago. I was very embarrassed about it even so I would dearly have liked someone, anyone, to help me get my shoe free. There seem to be so few "knights in shining armour" around these days.

...nice to see most of the answers saying 'yes', but 10 months ago, I helped a woman in the same situation - now, this wasn't any cold old city, but fine city Norwich. Regretted it ever since. Helped her outside Norwich Station, on Prince of Wales Road, and suddenly saw her partner run toward me (she hadn't seen him, and until he pushed me over into the road, I thought he was just rushing for a train). Was nearly killed by taxi, as it knocked me back onto the pavement. It was only at Norfolk & Norwich hospital when the police visited me in the surgery, asking me to give a statement. Did so, and a week later they went no further...with no help from the lady who I was helping. She told the police I looked like an ex who was 'always' stalking her, but they got to the bottom of the story. One of the passengers who I was sitting next to (and had chatted to) all the way from London turned up at the station to give her particular side of the story. They say we should know better in such an age like this, and after the incident, I - as sure as damn!! - decided to take note!

You should have, if the heels are still intact and stucked there.
You should rethink to see if you are able to mend it, if the heels broke.
Whatever it is,grab any chance to be a gentleman. Most of the chance you will be rewarded, 1 way or another.

That was probably me! I would of welcomed the offer, and i think a lot of girls would feel the same. I laugh at myself when it happens so if you stopped to help i think it would be less embarassing than just walking past me.

It depends.
Do you want to be a gentleman, who helps others when they are in need, or do you want to be an oaf who thinks everything is a possesion to be had?
Yes she probably could have managed herself, but offering your help would have been the nice thing to do, then she could either accept of refuse.
Simple.

I hate that when my heels get stuck in the grids or paving stones. No, i think it would of made it even more embarrasing for her.

Yes you definatly should have helped her!! I know from personal experience. Except in my case the guy that helped my ran away with it. (i didnt know him i might add) Id rather he had just helped and given it back and went on his way!
