I personally have never been more ashamed of my country's so-called "leadership"!! But I feel that I bear a little of the responsibility for not doing all I could have done in the way of peaceful protest, using the internet to urge peace, writing and demanding our Congress to act, etc. At what point do we admit to ourselves that it's over for us, that there is no conventional way to fight a war on terror??!! And I don't even want to hear the word, "nuke" or anything as ignorant and suicidal as that!

For carol0103: it truly amazes me that you can, without any reservation whatsoever, compare the LIVES LOSTin ANY war! Just another sign of a bloodless Neo-Con, who turns his/her head when someone dies, simply because they haven't experienced the death of someone in this conflict! It's the same kind of "screw you, I've got mine" fundamentalist/Christian/Conservative attitude that rejects the needs of the homeless and the poor, saying "It's their own fault--why don't they just get a job?!" And it's that kind of cold-blooded attitude that rejects the notion that, since Bush made his "Mission Accomplished" proclamation on board that battleship, it became an "Occupation", and not a war any more! And it's that kind of blind patriotism that continues to insist that this so-called "war on terrorism" is actually winable!! When all of you bloodless Neo-Cons wake up from your self-imposed visit to Oz, you will find that your yellow-brick road has led to huge defeats in November!!

I think all of the soldiers both over seas and over here in the United States should start a protest. If your over there pack your stuff and come home and if you are here in the United States then do everything in your power not to go. We are loosing inicent men and woman that have families and not to mention all the inicent people who are dieing over there. What is Bush trying to prove? We haven't accomplished anythng except thousands of deaths!

Please continue your research to include number of deaths in Iraq vs. WWII. The current number for Iraq is lower than ALL of the other wars we participated in, including the Civil War.

Fortunately for the US, our citizens are not cowards and are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect our country from terrorists.

As you say, peace is truly the answer. Perhaps you would volunteer to go to Iraq and convince them to peacefully protest with you?

I don't understand why you are still in the country when you could just turn your back on war and just go home to which ever country you come from.

I'm not in favour of the American occupation, but I think you need to learn how to count.
