There is a $100 dollar fine if you are caught not wearing your vest. You must wear the vest from the time you wake up until the time you lie down to go to sleep. Would you obey the law?

If the government which is elected by us (the citizens) decides something by the majority consent of the congressmen and which has been enacted for the benefit of the public. Then I would definitely obey it.

Because in a Democratic form of government we are indirectly deciding for ourselves. If our government at some point of time thinks that there is a severe threat to our lives in we must all wear a bullet proof vest then what is the problem in doing so.

I am also willing to pay the fine if I am caught not wearing it.

The point is, laws are made for our protection and benefit. and every law has to pass the rigorous test of objections form the elected Representatives.

I really like these questions of yours, they are very sly!

You're basically trying to establish that Americans will do anything that their government tells them to do, and that instead of actually being a free country, the USA actually has a real chance of becoming a police state.

The US citizens, or sheep, believe vigorously that they live in freedom, unaware that they only have the freedom to do whatever their government tells them to do, no matter how stupid, or degrading. Am I right?

Upon reading your question here, and the other one about helmets, I wanted to post my own similar questions, but didn't want to encroach on your territory. But the answers are very illuminating!

Maybe you are in fact Dick Cheney, curious to see how far he can go...

NO, not in my home. The only way they would know about it is,
if they had video cameras in every ones home (or a family member or neighbor was an informant.)

Only if there was complete chaos in the street. Otherwise, i`d say that they could take a hike. That`s putting it mildly.
