No, in society, a deviant is anyone whose behavior falls outside the boundary of normal set by the rules and attitudes of that society. This could mean he engages in non-traditional sexual behavior, such as BDSM (bondange, dominance, sadism, masichism), fetishism, or any of a number of "weird or bizzare" acts, as seen by the society. It is interesting to see how the boundaries within society change to accept different ideas as time goes on; for example, it was crazy for women to vote not too very long ago....

A sexual deviant is a broad category and it depends upon the eye of the beholder. To deviate from something means to go astray, against the normal. Therefore anything that the general public regards as strange could be categorized as deviant. Therefore I think your friend is using this word in a sense to make himself seem above the influence of the normal. I think that society would regard anyone or anything Deviant if they are not straight laced heterosexuals. Whatever! Let the deviants prevail.

Doesn't "deviant" just mean deviating from what is considered normal? Define "normal" then?
I think everyone is deviant in one way or another, by someone's standards. The important thing is that they are not harming anyone or breaking any laws.

Homosexuality is deviant and legal, but not altogether harmless (debatable).

Pedophilia is deviant, illegal and devastating to the victim.

Wearing diapers for sexual pleasure is also deviant, but harmless by anyone's standards. So it's ok.

So I guess he would have to be more specific about how exactly he deviates, in order for you to know what to do about him.

A sexual deviant will do anything for sexual gratification and does not care if anyone else gets hurt along the way. Maybe he is just saying that because he doesn;t know the true meaning of the word but I would watch having a friend like that. It could lead you into great trouble. Homosexuals are only called deviants by narrow minded religious types. What they do in private with a consenting adult is their business.

The word "deviant" means someone who "deviates" from the "normal" ... whatever that is. Of course we all deviate from the normal ... which is great.

Anyway, if you're REALLY interested, you might ask him what he means by that. If he won't give you a straight answer, that's fairly normal.

this is a matter of opinion
many people would say so .but in reality it is not ,because homosexuality is officially excepted

the deviant part usually refers to illegal , evil and perverted
and that again is a matter of opinion and this differs with cultures or religion or age .

and what business is it of yours who is homosexual
havent you heard of democracy or does that apply only to people who are like you. that is called fascism.

Maybe it's you who's deviant for thinking being gay is deviant.

He's saying that he enjoys deviating from "vanilla" sex. Odds are he has a fetish of some sort, but he could be saying that he's gay. Most likely he enjoys some kind of kink in his sex life and is not gay.
