Ok so one of my friends is really scared cause i talked with her tonight. She said she might be pregnant or atleast shes freaking herself out about it. Shes been on the pill for a long time.. went off the pill.. and was on it for 2 day when the last time something "happend" between them. There was no condom used but she said he always was sure that he pulled out. She was talking to her mom and her mom says that being hungry and sleepy and tenderness of the breasts is a sign.

Well number 1 the tenderness of the breasts is a side effect she gets often from it she says.

She freaked out about it and is feeling very tired and hungery.. more so than normal.

I honestly think shes freaking herself out and that there isnt a very good chance that she is and shes really scared.. so scared that she will make the right decition next time.

Please help with advice. Thanks so much!

Those symptoms could be anything from PMS to side effects of her pill to an actual pregnancy. The way to be sure is a pregnancy test. A blood test would be the earliest way of detecting a pregnancy.

If the "something happened" was less than 72 hours ago, she also has the option of the emergency contraception, or morning after pill. It can in fact sometimes work up to a weel after unprotected sex. When protection fails or is not used, this is an extremely effective way to prevent a pregnancy.

It will not stop a pregnancy that already exists and is not the same as an abortion. Your friend needs to have information on emergency contraception- the pills she uses can often be used for the emergency dose. I recommend all women have a dose on hand in case of accident, or, God forbid, rape. The sooner taken, the more effective.

The "pulling out" is totally worthless as a means of birth control. There are sperm in the pre-ejaculate and these can cause pregnancy. Planning, not pulling, works.

And whatever happens about birth control, your friend needs to be using a barrier method to protect herself from disease.

To be the best friend, get your friend to a doctor or a nonjudgmental clinic like Planned Parenthood for testing and counselling. I know she's freaked out so your job is to keep a level head and support her, whatever the test show, and to be a strong enough friend to speak frankly so she doesn't go through this again. She's lucky to have you.

OK so first of all when you get off the pill her fertility is increased during the following 2 or 3 moths if she is not old. plus "pulling it out" as you called it is a lousy contraceptive. you have to know that before ejaculation a small amount of liquid is released that contains sperm and as you know you only need one of them to get pregnant. tenderness of breasts hunger and tiredness are symptoms of pregnancy but there are no sure symptoms to observe that would fit to every pregnancy. there are situations in which a pregnancy has NO symptoms what so ever. she might get her period and not feel a thing until a later time. the best thing to do is go see a doctor because a home pregnancy test will most likely not show her actual state due to the fact that she was on the pill for a long time

..with your friend stressing herself out, stress also brings on the symptoms of pregnancy. Sometime what people consider signs of pregnany are also signs women get before they get their period. I definitely is possible for your friend to become pregnant because pills must be taken for about a week with an alternate source of protection, such as a condom before becoming effective. I don't know for sure how old the person is but i do suggest if she is that worried about it, she goes to buy a pregnancy test. If you go to a typical drug store you will pay around $15....but if you are close to a modern dollar store or bargin store they sell them between $1 and $6, these work the same way.

If your friend is unsure then she needs to do a pregnancy test, depending how long it has been since she last had intercourse, best she attends the doctor as if she is really freaking out and there is any doubts then a blood test can be done to check her pregnancy hormone. In the mean time, no point worrying, her body may be fooling her that she has "symptoms" of pregnancy simply because she is worrying so much.

You can still get pregnant even if the guy pulls out. Sometimes it takes awhile before you can get pregnant after being on the pill, but it just depends a few things like how long she was on it. Also those are some signs of pregnancy, but they are also things that can happen right before you get your period, so she is just gonna have to wait and see what happens, but if she misses her next period that can happen when you stop taking the pill because your body has to readjust to not being on the pill so she will have to take a test to find out.

i was like this not long ago, the doctor thought i was a bit mad saying that i knew that i was not pregnant. But why did i not have a period - it ended up being a mini menopause! (im only 27 at the mo)

Apparently when your body is on the pill for so long, and then you come off it you body reacts strangely. For me I had no period, signs of pregnancy eg sore boobs,

so my advice is take a test, but this may not be affective until later, and just wait its course for the next period. Just means panicking for a month. this will eventually pass - sound harsh i know but time is the only answer.

A home pregnancy testing kit should provide some answers for her. Most of them can be used up to 5 days before her period is due, although they are less accurate then. Obviously things like stress and worry can make periods later which again causes even more worry.

Take her a home pregancy test and see if she is pregnant. If she is then at least she will know for certain, and if you bring it to her, at least she won't feel alone about this situation. It is really none of your business but if you are going to get involved then get involved. Odds are she will have to tell her mother that she is pregnant. She will need your calming presence to give her the courage to do so. Just remember, it is none of your business and you are only there as a friend. If you get asked to leave, do so..Good Luck.

Even if her partner 'pulled out' there's still a chance that a little swimmer got through ( they're very determined), so your friend really must take a pregnancy test to find out one way or the other, then seek medical advice if necessary.

Tenderness of the breasts, hunger etc can have a number of causes, even a missed period is not, necessarilly, a guide to whether she is pregnant. By far the most sensible thing to do is to consult a doctor, either her G.P. or try one of the clinics.
