The only clear reason why Israel is in that miss is the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land . if Israel implement the UN 242 resolution in full there will be an end to the on going wars in the Middle East. Israel up to this day will not tell the world and the Palestinian that it will withdraws from all the land mentioned in UN Resolution. Israel want to keep land that was never part of Israel and this is why Israel will never have a lasting peace with native Palestinian people .

No peace trips will now work. The Arabs are wrongly convinced that they defeated the Israeli army, they will now engage in further provocation and slaughter of civilians and hiding behind their own civilians.

Yasser Arafat could have brought stability and perhaps peace through the Oslo accords. Corrupt and senile, he did not.

And of course the Rapture Ready folks quite like instability and the hope of Armageddon.

Peace tripe is very apt.
Blair has absolutely no influence over anything in the Middle East. He just crawls along behind Bush and Rice.

it will take a lot of effort to force Israel to give up the land occupied since 1967.
NO land = NO peace.

most of your assumptions are wrong, but I think that the conflict between Israel & palestine is nearing it's end, with mutual acceptance that is already there under cover, although amongst the palestinian leaders there is yet to be found the one who will declare the end to hostilities and keep his head on his shoulders.
