Artist: Shirley Ellis
Song: The Clapping Song
Three, six, nine
The goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke, the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little row boat
Clap pat, clap your hand, pat it on your partners hand
Right hand
Clap your hand cross it with your left arm
Pat your partners left palm
Clap your hand pat your partners right palm
With your right palm again
Clap slap
Slap your hands, slap your thigh
And sing a little song, go-
My mother told me if I was goody
That she would buy me a rubber dolly
My auntie told her, I kissed a soldier
Now she wont buy me, a rubber dolly
Three, six, nine
The goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke, the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little row boat
Clap your hands and prepare to pat
Take your right arm pat your partners right palm
With your right palm
Take your hand back- and clap
Take your right arm
Cross your right arm with your left arm
Pat your partners left palm with your left palm
Take your hand back and clap
Take your right arm , cross your left arm
Pat your partners right palm with your right palm
Now back with the clap
Take the pats of your palms
And slap your thighs
And watch the fun materialize
As you sing this little song
My mother told me
If I was goody
A that she would buy me
A rubber dolly
My auntie told her
I kissed a soldier
Now she wont buy me
A rubber dolly
Three, six, nine
The goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke, the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven on a little row boat
Clap pat, clap pat, clap pat, clap slap
Clap pat, clap pat, clap pat, clap slap
Clap pat, clap pat, clap pat, slap slap
Clap pat, clap pat, clap pat, slap slap
this the one?

My mamma told me
if I was goody
Then she would buy me
a rubber dolly.
But when I was older
I kissed a soldier
Now she won't buy me a rubber dolly
369 the goose drank wine
the monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
the line broke the monkey got choked and they all went to heaven in a little rowing boat
jump back
(classic clapping rhyme in my class - and 20 years less than your fifty!)

Wubba Dolly sung by Ella Fitzgerald
My mommy told me
If I was goody
That she would buy me
A wubba dolly
So don't you tella
I kissed a fella
Or she won't buy me
That wubba dolly
I know
I've been up to tricks
Oh-oh
I'm in a fix
I want that dolly
Indeed I do-o
But what a fella
I want him too-o
(band members:
Is it the fella or the dolly or the dolly or the
fella or the fella or the dolly for you?
Is it the fella or the dolly or the dolly or the
fella, what are you gonna do?)
I'll be a goodie
Just watch and you'll see
And she will buy me
A wubba dolly
(male voice, sounding like an imitation Louis
Armstrong:
Oh yes I'm sorry
About the dolly
Because we told her, woo-hoo
About this feller)
Boo-hoo
Oh why did you?
Oh boys
I wouldn't do it to you
Why did you tella
I kissed a fella
Now she won't buy me
A wubba dolly
[Instrumental break]
(band members, with children's voices:
We didn't tella
You kissed a fella)
Oh goody-goody - and now she'll buy me
That wubba dolly
Oh look here comes my mommy
And just look what she's got me
My mammy bought me
A little bitty wubba dolly
(male voice, same as before:
She sho' did, she sho' did!)

The clapping song by Shirly Ellis, and no i'm not over 50. I'm sure someone in the 80's or 90's brought it out as well but can't remember.

I don't know about the artist but you definitely don't have to be over 50 to know the song, my six year old daughter came home from school singing it with her friends recently. She was amazed when I knew the words!

Three-six-nine
the goose drank wine.
The monkey chew tobacco on the street car line.
The line broke
the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little row boat.
Clap Pat - Clap Pat - Clap Pat - Clap Slap!
Clap Pat! Clap your hand
Pat it on your partner's hand . . . Right hand.
Clap Pat! Clap your hand
cross it with your left arm
Pat your partner's leff palm.
Clap Pat! Clap your hand
pat your partner's right palm
With your right palm again. Clap Slap! Clap your hand
Slap your thighs and sing a little song.
My mama told me if I was goody
That she would buy me a rubber dolly
My Aunty told her I kissed a soldier
Now she won't buy me a rubber dolly.
Three-six-nine
the goose drank wine
. . .
Clap Clap! Clap your hands and prepare to pat
Pat! Take your right arm
Put your partner's right palm with your right palm.
Clap ! Take your hand back and clap. Pat! Take your right arm
Cross your right ann with your left arm
Pat your partner's leff palm with your left palm.
Clap! Now back with a clap
Slap - Take the pats of your palms and slap your thighs
And watch the fun materialize
As you sing this little song:
My mama told me if I was goody
. . .
Three-six-nine
the goose drank wine
. . .
Clap Clap . . .
My mama told me if I was goody
