For some reason the modern world seems to come under two groups; to reflect upon physical beauty, while one part of it reflects on inner beauty (mind, body & soul.) While there is nothing wrong with getting your nose fixed if it's on the large side or crooked, or getting those bags under/over your eyes fixed, many people are sucked into the commercial use of plastic surgery right on their own TV. For a company or group of doctors this is a gold mine! The reality shows teach one thing .... "never be happy with your outer self! Let us make you feel inadequate within yourself. Stare in the mirror (hopefully wasting your life away) and pick your face and body apart because it's money in our pockets." Especially the young and up to 40 - 50 years of age are the people these plastic surgeons target. My question is, "What is so wrong with a few wrinkles?" It gives character to the face and I do wear mine proudly. I have been blessed with great genes and don't look my age, (I have wrinkles) but even if I did I wouldn't resort to plastic surgery and here is why:

When you get plastic surgery on your face you can only have so many "nips and tucks." You are told to stay away from cigarette smoking and alcohol because both age the skin and you are advised not to tan. The process of plastic surgery is painful and it doesn't last. Before you know it you'll be zeroing in on those few fine lines and think they look like crevices in the Grand Canyon. We are most often hardest on ourselves. After too many "nips and tucks" the face takes on a waxy, solid look (just check out some of your older movie actors) and gives the face the appearance of a rock. I remember someone saying, "If that person gets anymore plastic surgery they will be blinking out of the back of their head." There are more comments regarding this process.

Plastic surgery is choice, and many don't wish to become a slave to it. Movie actors are forming a group (Susan Sarandon is one) against plastic surgery. Don't think because you go to a nice fancy surgeon's office and it looks clean and sparkly that you can't have a vast amount of problems with the plastic surgery. A poor plastic surgeon can make you end up with a grotesque look to your face and also damage nerves in the face. Good plastic surgeons take the time to talk to their patients and if they don't feel that person's problem is bad at all many good doctors will decline to do the surgery. Now that's a good doctor.

If you still choose to have plastic surgery please get more than one opinion and make some calls to check up on your plastic surgeon.

These are good reasons for plastic surgery:

Car accident (rebuilding parts of the face) Scars from being in a fire Born without a proper chin Very large nose Damage to the inner nose Cancers that deform any part of the body Poor jaw line and poor teeth

African Americans do not do as well in plastic surgery because of their skin color. If they scar from a cut of some sort it often will leave a light tan to white mark. African Americans tend to have excellent skin and they don't sun damage as quickly as lighter skinned races.
Other than the above there are not many other reasons for seeking out the expensive procedure of plastic surgery. Wouldn't this be a great world if more people quit looking at themselves and picking themselves apart and being so horribly unhappy with their looks, and took that energy to perfect their personality and help others less fortunate. When you see children die of cancer or anyone die from cancer, or other diseases, then plastic surgery sounds so vain to me. Each one of these patients with diseases would give anything to be just themselves and live!

Because everyone is superficial, caring only for outward appearance. Society as a whole is going in the entirely wrong direction.
