Buy them
Xbox 360 and xbox are meant for shooters ( Shooter fan myself )
For example, if you want a futuristic type of shooter get,
QUAKE 4, PREY, HALO 3 ( when it comes it ), PERFECT DARK ZERO, and many more to come!
For present day or past, get KING KONG, CONDEMED, FAR CRY, SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT, personal favorite is OBLIVION. Not really a shooter but a first and third person game and it takes forever to beat. over 400 hours long. You can do what ever you want in that game and it has the best graphics. This game will be the best game you ever played. it recieved over 60 awards including best game of E3. Get this Game!
To answer you question, Buy the game because some games take a while to beat, get all the acheivments, and find all the secrets.
P.S All xbox 360 games are worth to get!!
except the sports!

Please don't listen to these kids that are probably spending mommy and daddy's money or they have a part-time job with no bills.
There are several factors I look for when I want to buy a game. I came up with this theory when I had a PS2 and was playing Vice City. Everyone knows that even after you beat that game you could run around and reak havoc at anytime. This is after story playability. Once you beat the game will it be fun to play again? VIce City was, and with the onset of online systems many more are.
The mulitplayer aspect. This is the biggest cheese. LIke when I first got live for Halo 2. I got Halo in Nov when it came out and played nothing else but halo 2 multiplayer for 6 straight months. Now I have had Battlefield Modern Combat 2 for the 360 and have played nothing else for 6 months till dead rising came out.
I would also recommend that you check out game fly. For 21 bucks a month you can rent 2 games (blockbuster has the same deal but with only one game). You play the game as much as you like, no late fees and if you want to buy it, they have reduced used game prices. It's just like net flix but for video games.
One thing with multiplayer online modes, you have to make sure they are worth it. Don't buy a game just because it says it has online capabilities. For instance, I bought Ghost Recon because I have played all the other ones for consoles and the computer and the multiplyer has rocked, but GRAW's mutliplayer was horrible.
Rent first and buy used later.

Halo-guy is right about buying the games. I'd check out Ebay if you want to buy games cheaper. $60 is alot for a game. I've been getting them off Ebay for $40 or less, a few brand new too. No point in paying too much when you don't have to. Plus, once more games begin coming out the prices on Ebay will drop. I'm not advertising Ebay either. I don't sell on Ebay, just a money conscience buyer. Good luck with your gaming.

I'd hardly recommend any to buy.
All the shooters, sure. They have the multiplayer (especially Battlefield 2. Perfect Dark if you have friends who will be able to share yor TV)
Single player wise.....I wouldn't rec anything but Oblivion, unless you are a huge fan of a particluar series. All the noteworthy single player games are short or you'll never touch them after you beat them.
Rent:
Condemned, Kameo, Dead Rising, N3

There are some games you wanna rent, and most games you would want to keep. One game to rent is Condemmed(a horror, survival game) because its really short. And games you wanna keep like Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Call Of Duty 2, and many many more. Go check out Blockbuster they have Xbox360 games there now.
