I know exactly what you mean. There is one thing a marketeer is interested in--taking money from others and putting it in his own pockets by whatever means necessary.

I've seen groups of car salesmen sit around with cigarettes saying "if the customers' lips are moving, they are lying." What kind of relationship can you have if that's what the saleman thinks of me.

I've worked in a company developed by a marketeer who dreamt up a happy concept. Through his charisma and positive attitudes, he managed to separate millions of dollars from investors. When physics and engineering, cold concepts from Mother nature herself, failed to make his "dream" reality, he ended up being responsible for the deaths of a few people in experimental medical procedures.

What pissed me off is the idea was not wanted--the only reason the clinics and doctors got on board was for greed. They would have told him the sky was falling for the money he was paying. It was all hype and no content. There was no real content backing up the idea. The investors liked the emporer's clothing because he made them feel good. I lost about 4 years of life, and flushed about $7 grand down the toilet in stock options that died with the company. He will never see what he did as unethical, but it was. It is the state of corporate america. It won't change. Things will get much worse before people believe in ethics again. (Or it may never happen! Will we become the Ferengi as in Star Trek???)

Sell a concept, based around fair business ethics (which seems a ludicrous, irreversible oxymoron) instead of just a product.

It's probably not profitable 99/100, but who knows.

All that "Green business" BS along with "Fair Trade" blablabla "Sustainable" products come to mind.

Not to say you need to be environment-friendly, or pro-labor, but these ethical-concept-driven products already exist, and I'd look to literature, pertaining to implementation, over there first.

Marketing and Sales jobs are for highly talented, skilled and "educated" people. I define "educated" as a person having the right information and putting these information to use. Also, one needs to have a lot of PMA (positive mental attitude) to become highly effective in these type of jobs.
