I eroded a small portion of my bathroom sink surface (unsure if it is enamel, porcelain, or ceramic) with airplane paint thinner.

This is in the sink underneath the faucet in the bathroom. the top smooth layer of the sink basin has been eroded in a small 2" by 2" spot

The outer layer of this material is smooth and white, while the eroded section is gritty and hard. Airplane remover was left in the sink

Hey Red,

The only way I know is to have a Bathtub re-finisher do the repair. If it's not too big, they make home repair kits, but they are difficult to use.

I would try the Bathtub re-finisher route first, they should give you a free estimate, and then you'll know what material you are dealing with.

Good luck!

p.s., I forgot... You might be able to do the repair with Auto refinisher. But again, find out what you are dealing with first.

if you damaged the surface with paint thinner your sink is not made of enamel, porcelain or ceramic. most likely a polymer, a plastic of some kind. you might try buffing the spot out.

There are companies that refinish but it may not be cost effective. There is touch up paint for porcelain but you may see the patch as color match and fill in is difficult. If you paint plains though you may be the person!
