Last year or was it this year, for three months there was racist violence at Bondi Beach area and Sydney. Have you forgotten. Just because there are no blacks in Australia, does'nt mean that there is no racism there. You really need do get a better background on the racism problem there. The aborigines will tell you differently. Racism is not a phenomenon associated only with blacks in the world.

In Australia we have 458,500 aboriginals, which is just 2.4% of the population.

We have had our share of racism against the aboriginals over the few hundred years we have been a nation, and then that racism was passed onto the Chinese in the early Goldfields, then the European immigrants like the Greeks, the Italians and the Slavs.

Then later the Asian immigrants from Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines etc. So the flavour of the month to use a losse term is the immigrants from the Arab countries because of 9/11, Bali and other terrorist attacks.

The USA has had racism against the Blacks much longer than we have with a much larger population to control too. And I must add the predominance of reverse racism is and always has been a factor in our societies.

I also remind Australians that we are all immigrants to this continent. Even the Aboriginals came here from Africa, so we are all immigrants to this country. In the US the American Indian tribes came from Eastern Asia through Alaska over centuries to occupy what is now America,

All I would say is no one is special, no one is perfect so no one has the right to racially abuse someone else for being different.

It’s hard to compare America with Australia mostly because our history is different. Australia has a diverse population, so much so that it’s even hard to define Australian. Australia also has a much smaller population than America has to cope with. Racism exists everywhere, Australia is not immune but perhaps our easygoing attitude, leisurely lifestyle, and a ‘fair go’ mentality makes life a lot easier.

You dont have racism in Australia? Did you know that up until about the mid 1970's you people were still taking aboriginal babies away from their mothers so they could be raised by whites and 'civilized'? Hows THAT for racism?

Because there are alot of ignorant people here.
Because there are leaders in the white and black community both that don't want racism to end or they wouldn't have a job.
Many reasons...but it isn't just against the black race. The black race is just as racist as the white race is these days.

Racism in America is overrated. The problem no longer is racism, but the minorities taking advantage of the majorities sympathy... and this does not just pertain to race either. By 2050 white people will no longer be the majority in America and I guarantee you that you will still hear the minorities complaining that they are "treated differently." One day people will realize that holding grudges against people that didn't harm you is a waste of time ... and we only live once.

Guess what, it is getting better. When I started yahoo answers, I expected to see a lot of negativity. Of course there is an occasional jackass. But for the most part, the people on here don't even allow too much BS on our site. Go YAHOO ANSWERS!!!!!
One more thing: Some of us were angry with bill Cosby about his comments when he said: Blacks are not keeping their end of the bargain. So True.

i really don't think u know what u are talking about, besides the original people that were there first were black, dark-skinned aborigines who had african and asian backgrounds before the europeans came, and there are now not many left, and the ones that are left do not hardly resemble their darker skinned ancestors because most were killed off and women were raped by white men and their children were kidnapped to be raised somewhere else, with white families so they could get rid of that population. there's racism everywhere and it's because people are stupid.

I'm sure you do. But racism isn't as big a problem now like alot of black people try to make it out to be. Some of these people crying wolf are the ones that don't want to do for themselves and figure since they are a minority the world is out to get them. Racism exist but it's only as bad as you make it.

Retards, the lady is saying that Aborigines ARE black people and they do not discriminate against them. Got it?
