I'm on the verge of insanity trying to figure out life and what life expects of me. It seems that everything I think and do is affecting me negatively. What do I do to snap out of this kind of thinking?

I don't know how old you are so it's hard to answer your questions. If you are in school, study like mad so you can get good grades and get a good college education later. Try to decide what you really love to do and pursue that career. If you are in a career, hopefully you are enjoying it. Never try to figure out life and what life expects of you. The only thing that should be expected of you is that you give anything you do your all. Take pride in your schoolwork, job, relationships etc. That will help the negative thoughts. It sounds as if you are a truly nice person who cares about your future. Don't be depressed.

Nothing to do about , I get those thoughts very often and i just hope is just a phase of my life... Just try to keep your mind busy with other stuff, try to think possitive as much as possible and see the good side of life in some things.. When I watch my 4 years niece I think that life is not bad after all. I don't know try to look for something that could get you out of this negative thoughts.

Maybe you could use some counseling. Life is tough at times, but you gotta keep moving on. Your attitude has a lot to do with it. Also if you have negative people in your life,..get rid of them.
Always remember to, that there are others that have it a lot worse than you do. When I have down times, I just remember that things could be worse. Don't take life for granted.

Screw what life expects of you! The only thing that should matter is what you expect from yourself. Don't worry so much about figuring out life - philosophers spend years and they don't really have much sucess in that department. Just concentrate on doing what you love to do, and making a living doing something that you enjoy. Relax, and enjoy the ride!

Go see a psychiatrist at once. Chemical thing inside you is out of balance now and this is making you think so negatively. The doctor will give you some medication that will make you feel better instantly. You may want to talk to other experts at the hospital, too. They will help you to get out of this kind of non-constructive thoughts. Please hurry! Don't wait till the situation is irreversible!

Just call up a couple of VERY good friends, make sure YOU buy the beer, and talk to them. Beer always brings out the best and worst in me.

Try to find the silver lining of each situation. There always is one... sometimes it just takes longer to figure it out.

Write... but that's my answer for most things. Seriously, sit down and write out what's in your head... it'll help you sort through things... I'd also think about seeing a shrink.

Read this book: "Emotional Resilience" by David Viscott. It's helped me immensely.
