Generate revenue through advertisement. They send you the ad in hopes of getting you to try or buy their product. Same as junk mail and commercials.

The SPAMMERS send millions of Advertisements almost for free because they have hacked others peoples computers and gotten them to send the SPAM.
As Millions go out to all the users they find a few "clueless" people who still fall for these fake advertisement's and then steal their bank account and all there money. Most Spammers are from other countries and move constantly which makes it very hard to catch them. (but many are cought) :)
The best way to protect yourselv is to have Protection software on your computer so it can't be used to send out spam. MANY people are sending out spam and don't even know it!
That protection software is anti-virus, anti-Spyware, and a good firewall.
