thanks to all who had answered my question first of all i want to apologise if u feel that i degrade pinay. no i'm not having the very same opinion for sunshine to all of you because i know u r all nice. if not u wouldnt answer my question. i'm not mean to you. despite my horrible experience with the girl, i met other nice filipino who helped me find accomodation (free), food and they even reccomend me to some of their teenage children and tried their best to make me happy and i wont forget that. that's the reason i'm going back there not because of what shine did to me but because all the good deed and help that have been poured to me.apart from visiting friends and discover places i'm also thinking about doing a research paper for my degree progam about muslims in manila. thanks for all feedbacks and help. if only i could treat all of you :)

I wish I have logged on a lot earlier to answer your question. You shouldn't be scared when visiting the Philippines. There are a lot of chaep hotels here. You can visit the Malate-Ermita area, hotels that offer rates lower that 1000 go side by side. I recommend Citystate. Its cheaper than most hotels, going for like 650 a night. The rooms are spacious and the staff are polite. Most backpackers I know from other countries go there.
The food here is cheap, you should know this, right? You can have a decent meal with 50 pesos.
If you're planning to vivit Boracay, now is not a good time to do so. Its raining here. But, if you would, you should contact a dependable travel agency. There are many sites on the net that compete over the lowest rates.
Good luck to you. I'm sure you're not panning of seeing that girl who duped you. She brought shame to us Filipinas. I'll remember her name... Sunshine from Bulacan right? I hope you'll meet other decent girls here. Good luck.

U sound like ryan s. Don't loose hope coz there is a place which cost P1000.00 per night. That amount is cheap but the place is place good enough. The apartelle is clean and properly maintained. It is located in Adriatico st. in Manila very near in Rizal park and Manila Bay. I will email you if I found in the telephone directory the name of the apartelle, contact number and the exact location, ok.

Well it seems you have no relatives here... but if you have local friends better ask for their assistance. Cheap place to stay are plenty but still you have to choose very carefully. I'm here in manila and i work in manila so i know what its like to live in manila. I am a catholic so I'm not familiar with Muslim customs. they have a mosque in quiapo, but quiapo is known for its "bad boy" image altho' people there won't just harm you or anything but if they smell that you are a foreigner and alone ... it could be dangerous ... remember there is economic problem in the country meaning people are hungry especially the jobless ones.
Citystate is a good place to stay its near Quiapo Church ... and eat at fast foods like: Chowking, Jollibee, KFC, McDonald's just to be safe. Be careful with drinking water, buy ur water from 711 and use anti mosquito lotions just to be safe. keep you valuables out of sight... enjoy your stay ...

i guess there's nothing to be scared of. i study in manila. i commute everyday. i rode those jeepneys and ordinary buses but i never got mugged or anything. just wear that "i know my way" look. even if you are lost, just dont show it in your face. most snatchers victimize people that look just like that. and its a good thing you look like a local because most sellers or taxi drivers will ask you to pay more than what the stuff's worth if they know you're a foreigner. but what the hell. they are all nice.

and oh take good care of your belongings.

im sure you'll find a cheap place. there are lots in pasay and manila. pasay is a better choice since its closer to the airport and mall of asia. but manila's surroundings are way much better. hehe.

have a nice stay here!

Sell your ticket. If not, go to your local bookstore and buy a guidebook. They are about $15. If you go to cebupacificair.com, you can fly to Kalibo for $36, for 400 pesos you can get a shuttle to Caticlan and 40 pesos more will ferry you to Boracay. If you only have 5 days, I wouldn't bother going to Boracay, because it is rainy season right now. A good backpack trip would be to Lake Ta'al, near Tagaytay. Good luck.

if you're only going to spend 5 days i suggest to drop boracay in your itenerary... there are lots of cool places to visit and since you already made friends here, better contact you friends and ask them to scout a decent place for you to stay for the budget you intend to spend... some people, even if they have will work will still be glad to help you out... and no need to be afraid of being alone... especially if you go to bars you can easily strike a conversation with anyone... just be very careful whom you speak with... you'll meet lots of friendly people as you did last time..

have a great vacation!!

You can get a pretty decent hotel with 1000/night plus if you are staying with them for at least 7 days try checking if they have a weekly rate, they normally have those. Plus you can always ask the hotel staff about the places where you want to go.
