Well, U.S.A. and China are both very big countries, so the distance depends considerably on the two points you're measuring how far they're distant.

For ex:
New York City -> Beijing 6847 miles (11.019 km)
Honolulu -> Beijing, China 5081 miles (8177 km - close to shortest distance)
New York -> Lhasa, Tibet : 7498 miles (12067 km - close to biggest distance)

Nevertheless, it's quite far in every case.
