Great site. Lots of free study material online. They also make test prep books if you go to the store.

I believe you are talking about studying Algebra for the International Baccalaureate exam. As this is quite an advanced standard which students normally achieve after at least 4-5 years of studying algebra, I'm a little surprised that your question is written as if you have never studied algebra.

Graham I is right, if you have just come across this and you are new to algebra then ignore it for now as you will find it too difficult.

You can probably go to just about any book store or go on any search engine and find explanations on algebra. Try bitesize on bbc.co.uk and work your way through.

Website is http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks3bitesize/maths/algebra/index.shtml for start, then you can move onto http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/maths/ for gcse level.
