There are women involved in construction. I just want to know the reason why women take civil engineering as their profession.

This is not to descriminate women from man. I just wanted to know what urges women to enter the world of construction where in fact it is the most dangeros job (according to studies).

Why not?? I majored in engineering, not civil, but our class was 50% men, 50% women. Just like men have varied interests, so do women. Some women like to be outdoors and building things. I have several femal engeering friends from college who are successful in their areas - one is building bridges and the other is making gasoline.

Speaking for myself as a woman.
I can do nearly everything a man can and usually much better.
Women take civil engineering for the same reasons as men they enjoy it or want to do it!!
I'm so glad that in 2006 we have come so far and small minded people like you do not matter. Because women are out there doing what the do and doing it well.

Civil engineering is extremely appropriate for women. It involves creativity, analytical thinking, and the daily practice of penis envy (with the use of all of those big, strong tools)! Just kidding with the last part.

But just to get back to the sexist spin of your question: women were dissatisfied for centuries with the disfunctional houses that some men built. They had to go in and supervise.
