There are a couple different things that could cause that. If you just started getting your period, even if you've had it for a year or around there, that coule be why since it takes a while for it to get regular. If you aren't eating enough, that could be why, because when you're malnourished you stop getting your period or get it less often. Your body also might just be set up that way. But I think it would be a really good idea to talk to a doctor about it. I have a friend who is the same way but is way less regular, but she's too scared to go to the doctor for some reason. But really, which is the bigger issue? Your health, or being nervous for a little doctor appointment? Good luck!

GO TO A GYNECOLOGIST!! Why would you be 'afraid' to do that? You should be going once a year from the time you first get your period. There's a very good chance that it's normal, just your body getting used to things...or maybe it's not - but WE'RE NOT DOCTORS here on Yahoo. Be smart - have your mom or an older female that you trust make an appointment for you.

it depends how old you are, which I have no idea. Alot of teenagers have irregular periods and it's not really abnormal at all. Also if you're over/under weight that can affect it. Actually there's alot that can affect it.

If it's every six weeks, it's regular. 28 days is an average. Also if you're a teenager, it is normal to be irregular for awhile.

Go to your doctor. It is most likely a hormone imbalance. Going on the pill can help regulate your period. No more guessing.

Could it be the case, that you have very little body fat? That will GREATLY affect it. Otherwise, it's your hormones, or maybe only one ovary is working. Have your doctor check it out - there could be many reasons.
