It's like any other designer item, you are paying for the prestige of the name more than anything. Many times it's also made out of very expensive materials like 24K gold and diamonds.
If you like the watch, find a cheaper version of it somewhere. Maybe even a knock-off. Yes, it's immitation and it's fake, but it's on your wrist and you are the only one that has to be happy with it. Maybe even a used one in the same or similiar style.
And $2,500 is cheap for a Rolex. Many new ones run 5-10X that.
