My husband and I were just discussing this. He says we should use the kid's with down syndrome as an example. They are always happy. They don't think so much about how to be happy and analyze everything. They just live in the moment and are happy with simple pleasures. I asked him if that is why he is happy all the time. : ) hehe. But really, I know a lot of Guru's say to keep it simple, be content, enjoy what you already have and not always wanting more. Love yourself. Appreciation, gratitude. The way you think affects how you feel. Thinking happy thoughts= happy. Get rid of negetives. Happiness is just a state of mind. You choose be happy or be miserable. Every day wake up and think of how you can be happier, think and do happy things. And you don't have to go around with a perma-smile. Just train your mind to focus on the positive.

Happiness is defined as: "Enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction, or joy." However, the dictionary is not the final arbiter of such an abstract concept which has been "defined" by so many poets, authors, song writers, philosophers, and artists. I define happiness as a long healthy life, changing the entire world by using love. Sound familiar?

A very complicated question you ask! One can answer by simply saying their is no answer because it does not truly exist. Another can say what makes me smile. But to break it down for you in a whole, happiness is a chemical reaction in your body making you feel warm and insides all jittery. To achieve true happiness we all as people must co-exist in a peaceful way which then we'd never try to out do anyone and we'd all just say please and thank you. So happiness is just a state of being in a short lived period.
So happiness is:
Love, comfortable, content, and short lived a state of mind!

To me, happiness is not bliss, it's is content. It is a feeling of loving and being loved. It is grace and gratitude, not ecstasy. I think elation and that kind of heightened euphoria is never meant to last. It is a moment that defines the gap between the dark and the light in your life and life wouldn't be worth living if it didn't contain those extremes.

Happiness is when you feel as if the whole wide world is being controlled by you. The air feels fresher and the sun shines brighter. You smile all the time without any reason. That is when you feel there's happiness in your life.
