Real ones - yes. They typically work best if your engine has extensive modifications and the chip is programmed specifically to work with them.On an unmodified car, a chip may give you just a few horsepower - or do nothing.

Fake ones - avoid them. There's a lot of "chips" or "modules" sold on Ebay that aren't chips at all.

well there are different kinds of chips, their are the really cheap and ineffective 'ebay' chips which just plug into your oxygen sensor and it tricks the computer into thinking there isn't enough fuel so it puts extra fuel in the engine doing, and all they do is kill your gas mileage and doesn't give any extra power. but then there are the good quality chips which cost about $400-$700 and they connect directly on to the ECU and they work great. i don't know if they make them for Camry's though.

I dont know about a camry, as it's not really a car to be tuned and driven performance wise....

But, chips, or ECU's, engine managements, whatever...will affect any cars performance if tuned properly. Just be wise with what you choose, you are essentially changing everything inside the engine

Timing, fuel/air ratios, among many other things. If done wrong or by a cheap chip, you'll blow your engine.

They artwork as a lot as a level. you at the on the spot are unlikely to teach a Yugo right into a NASCAR racing gadget. 50 hp improve is a touch severe. this is extra like 3 hp improve in accordance to cylinder. an improve in HP comes at a cost - gasoline monetary equipment. there is in ordinary words a lot power (BTUs) in a gallon of gas. you could extremely guess the motorized vehicle manufacturers are tying to get the most out of a gallon of gas less than the federal mandate. you could determination the gasoline/air blend (round 14 lbs air to at least a million lb gas) to get extra power or extra constructive monetary equipment. except the OEM chip is extremely undesirable, a sparkling chip can not be too major. all the powerful evaluation are from organizations that promote or manufacture the chips. and anybody will allow you to realize their is brilliant. countless the higher performance will be an phantasm.
