Think before deleting since this platform is vry got source for useful information. Below is the mentioned way to terminate the yahoo services

By terminating account, you will lose your Yahoo! ID, Mail address, and Profile names.This will also delete your account data and settings across the Yahoo! network. This includes the contents of your HotJobs, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Address Book, Yahoo! GeoCities, Yahoo! Briefcase, My Yahoo! and more.
In most cases your account will be deactivated and then deleted from our user registration database in approximately 90 days. This delay is necessary to discourage users from engaging in fraudulent activity. Additionally, due to the limited number of names available, they may allow other users to sign up for and use your current Yahoo! ID and profile names after your account has been deleted.

Did you mean e-mail ID with yahoo.com ?
If so,than just do not access your ID for 2-3 months and you will get out of this website

Just to be sure you know what you're doing.
Then click on the link it gives you that says "Account Deletion".
Remember that before doing this, you should delete your "Yahoo! People Search Listing" if you have one.

get out of answers or yahoo?? just stop going to answers if thats the case report all the emails you get from here as spam and thats that .
if yahoo go to account right on to of the screen and click on delete account

The best way would be to stop using all the useful services that Yahoo provides. Including this one.
That being said, why would you want to stop using Yahoo?

juss click on the tab "my account" n den cancel or delete ur account!!
the tab is located under ur login name on the top of ur page...
n eesy of all juss forget dat u have ne aacount for 4 or 5 months n dey will stop or block ur account!!

Quit visiting it and eventually you will forget about it and when you decide to come back, you will have to reapply for an account.
