i just finished an amazing book called "I am Charlotte Simmons" by Tom Wolfe. Its 819 pages but every page is worth it. It centers around college life and the journey of a young poor girl through her freshman year. Such a captivating novel that I couldn't put down till the book was done. I really recommend it.

Sounds like you're doing "work" reading.

I'm not in school any more, so most of my reading these days is pure relaxation. Actually, I listen to unabridged audiobooks in the car more than I actually read hardcopy. It's the only way I can find time to enjoy good books.

Recent titles:

Louis L'Amour: The Kiowa Trail
Marc Zicree et al: The Magic Time Trilogy
Neil Gaiman: American Gods
Kazuo Ishiguro: When we Were Orphans
Mark Haddon: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Bob Brier: History of Ancient Egypt, Teaching Company Course

Good luck with those exams!

I just finished reading Anne Tyler's _Digging to America_. It was great. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Here's an excerpt from a Washington Post review:

“The appearance of a new novel by Anne Tyler is like the arrival of an old friend . . . With her 17th novel, Tyler has delivered something startlingly fresh while retaining everything we love about her work . . . Her success at portraying culture clash and the complex longings and resentments of those new to America confirms what we knew, or should have known, all along: There’s nothing small about Tyler’s world, nothing precious about her attention to the hopes and fears of ordinary people.”

Hmmm, well, I've been reading Descartes Meditations, rereading AC Clarke's Childhood End, and Derbyshire's Unknown Quantity...

I keep skipping back and forth between them, and I will until I get to a mysterious point where I need to just finish one then go back to the others. :)

Sorry I can't provide you much empathy there. I'm reading for my own fulfillment. It's been quite a few years since I had to read for exams. Good luck!
