If, for example, I say something that I beleive to be false, but assert it as the truth, and people listen and beleive, and later I discover that it was true, but I didn't realise it when I said it, then was I bullshitting or not?

The fact is that reality is just as you discribe it, phyiscal reality.
So, your question is solid, which is the problem. The inner life of the human being is not solid. Spirit as we know it, is not solid.
