You find yourself in Greece or Rome, 2,500 years ago. You are dressed like the natives and you speak their language. Do you know anything they would think is worthwhile, or that would mark you as being someone from the future? Ignore the possibility of changing the future. What could you do to convince them you were from the 21st century?

Make sure you bring your laptop with you so you can look up things in a jiffy. It looks like you didn't do your homework real well. Calling the Greeks natives doesn't cut it. Make friends with Nero. No, he wasn't there yet. How about Mark Anthony? Check if Richard Burton is available to play him. Will you be able to see Purple Eyes, Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra.? Stay away from the Colisseum or you'll surely be thrown in the arena to fight. Hope you can convince them you're a Gladiator.
So in case of an early demise, they will give a proper burial with coins laid over your closed eyes. Hey, you don't like the plot, who advised you to go back to Rome?

Why would you want to convince them you are from the future? It would only serve to get you killed for being a demon or get you a job working for the Cesar. Either way, you would have to know quite a bit about the time you were going back to. Exact dates that things happened so you could 'predict' them. Though, in predicting events you could alter the timeline and prevent them from happening. If you had the knowlege of todays technology (ie..weapons, infrastructure, building) you could be rather useful in continuing the civilization. You would also know who to hang out with and who not to. Hedge your bets on Brutus.

...and with suppy_sup's superior spelling skills she could...oh wait..she has no spelling skills...sorry darlin'

I wouldn't even try to convince them. I'd basically be setting myself up for death. Anyone with foreseeable knowledge of the future would be deemed a witch or warlock or something evil and killed on the spot. Pass.
