It sure as hell didn't help me lose weight with my firstborn!!

Yep, the pounds just melted away. By the time my son was three months old I was 5 lbs below my prepregnancy weight and at my goal target weight! (I had dieted right before I got pregnant and was down 15 lbs). I was the lowest weight I'd been in 10 years!

Unfortunately as they start eating more food and less breastmilk, this effect goes away and it comes back if you don't watch out. I got my extra 20 lbs back and still have to get around to losing them again.

It's different with everyone, I'm sure you'll hear, but most of the time it helps.
And another thing is, it probably did help you cuz you could've been putting weight on instead.
Breastfeeding to lose weight isn't a good reason to breastfeed, though I'm sure you were doing it for all the other awesome benefits.

With my first one I dropped all the weight in like 3 weeks!!! I looked great! Now after my second one, I haven't lost a single pound!
It's just cuz the body is changing a lot, and I'm on anti-depressants for my major post-partum depression I get hit with (learned the hard way the first time around).

Anyway, don't worry about it "not working" cuz it just may have, and just eat sensible and work out. That's all I can suggest (since I have the same prob!) :)

I lost most of my pregnancy weight, but still had about 7lbs to get rid of, that I just couldn't. My guy ate about every 2 hrs, sometimes less and I was hungry all the time, so i ate a lot more then I usually do. To me-it seemed like a myth to loose your pregnancy weight while breastfeeding.
Also, I still exercised and ate well-I wasn't lazy or a pig....and I still couldnt loose the extra pounds
Now hes 7 months and nursing a lot less and I'm starting to loose some more of my extra pounds.

congrats and good luck with ur baby!

With four of my five pregnancies, I breastfed and went right back to pre-pregnancy weight, less weight on two of them, in just a few months. The one I couldn't BF (my 3rd one), I had to work harder to loss the baby weight, about 6 months, but it left me with a flabby tummy. I wished he would have breastfed, but the hospital nurse's gave him formula in the nursery, before realizing he was to be breastfed.
It can take some women up to a year to loose the weight from pregnancy, especially if you gained more than the recommended 25-30 pounds. Any extra weight than that just adds to the amount you have to work to get off.
I exercised by walking alot, also. So it depends on if you have activities to do or not.

But, Yes, it worked for me. Unfortunately, I was over weight before I got pregnant with my fifth one, and when I had her, I went right back to the exact same weight as before.

Hi
This plan worked for me to loose weight after my first born so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

Good luck

I nursed both of my girls and I could feel the contracting feeling when I nursed each to begin with, but that is as far as I can say. With my first I had my figure back in 9 months easy, with my second I couldn't lose an ounce until I weaned her it seemed.

Since my second I find I still have trouble that I never had before. I find exercising early in the day helps me the best.

Peace!

I did not bf my first, but I did my second. There was a big difference. Breastfeeding supposedly burns up to 600 calories a day, and mine seemed to nurse all the time! With my first, it took about four months to lose the weight (with LOTS of exercise and diet). With my second, I was wearing my jeans after about a month. And all I was doing was nursing and my regular housework.

I lost weight quickly through breastfeeding. Would have done it anyway, tho, because formula is so very bad for humans - causing many illnesses in baby and mom! Formula fed kids even test lower on IQ scores than baby's lucky enough to nurse for years.

BIG time!

I've nursed 4 babies, the effect wasn't as noticable w/ the 1st one. But, I think maybe I didn't get the activity that I did w/ the later ones. But, the cramping is also worse w/ the later ones.
When the baby nurses, the uterus contracts, that can really hurt after a few babies.

But, w/ the 2nd one.... I wore my pre-preg clothes home from the hostpital. w/ the 3rd one, I was in my belly-dancing costume 2 weeks later for Halloween! & I carried my little prince w/ me for trick-r-treating w/ the older kids. The uterus is a muscle & it needs those contractions to get back into shape. I took several asprin a day to deal w/ it... w/ LOTS of water! (to avoid any stomach problems.)
