The number refers to the band size or the measurement around the upper rib cage, not including the breasts themselves.

The letter refers to the cup size of the breasts, which is worked out by finding the difference in inches between the band size (see above) and the measurement around the fullest part of the bust.

For example:

AA cup - 0 inch difference
A cup - 1 inch difference
B cup - 2 inch difference
C cup - 3 inch difference
D cup - 4 inch difference
DD cup - 5 inch difference

So if a girl has a 34 inch rib cage and measures 37 inches around her bust, that would make her band size 34 and there is a three inch difference between her band size and bust measurement, making her a c cup. So her bra size would be a 34C. Hope this makes sense.

The number is a measurement of how big around a woman's chest is directly below her breasts and is equivalent to the band size of the bra. The letter corresponds to the difference in inches between the band size and the measurement taken around a woman's chest over her breasts. Each inch of difference helps determine the cup size (i.e. <1"=AA, 1"=A, 2"=B,...).

the number size is the inches just below your busts, (take a tape measure and measure around)where your bra would hook. the letter is the size of your cup,or breast size. but I'm not sure how to calculate the inches if measured the same way to an A,B,C,or D size.

The number is the measurement around the women's ribcage and back, right underneath the breast area. The cup size is the size of the actual breasts that fit in the cup.
