Who cares what they think. Be yourself. If that's not good enough for your friends, then they aren't your friends.
You may need to find new friends, if your current friends can't shape up and get their stuff together.

They are most likely jealous of you!
I bet those friends aren't real head turners are they?
I am willing to bet that some of them are plain Janes, chubsters and geeks huh?
Don't think about what others think about you. Just do it, forget about them and you will leave them in the dust, believe me. Then better people and better things will develop for you, absolutely.
I am a male, way past high school, but I noticed (as a handsome guy) that the only people who ever made fun of my appearence were ugly or at best average people. They were jealous of me and wanted to beat me down to make themselves feel better.
Stay on that cheerleading squad and move forward, not backward! And when others aren't nice, just smile and realize that these people are being tortured by themselves, enjoy it!!!

People see cheerleaders and stuck up people that run around in their little in group thinking they are cool.
You may be a nice person that likes everyone but you have gotten in to a crowd that generally thinks themselves above everyone else.
Stay in it and prove the people wrong. That even cheerleaders can be nice, friendly people.

for the same reason people hate homosexuals, or preps, or goths, or any other stereotype. Cheerleaders in particular are stereotypically thought to be stupid, vain and obnoxious. I can't say if that's a deserved reputation or not, though.

stereotyping.... that's why... some cheerleaders start thinking their "all that" and better than others... and that kind of attitude rubs off badly on people like your friends. if they're real friends, they won't hate you just cuz you're a cheerleader.

As long as you don't brag about it all the time, I would call it jealousy. BUT, if you are constantly talking about it & getting "big-headed" that is possibly the reason why people are acting that way.
