5 months, but how many weeks? The majority of first time mothers don't feel any movement until atleast 17-18 weeks. But you should be feeling almost constant movement by 24 weeks. You may have actually felt the baby and not even realized thats what it was. It could be anything from a huge shift, to a feeling like bubbles moving up your belly. Everybody is different.
Drink a big glass of COLD water, lay on your left side, and just relax. The water makes the baby move. Don't panic if you don't feel it yet, you may just not be far enough along. At 5 months you should be due for your ultrasound anytime right? Make sure you mention this to your dr.!!

During the 5th month you may begin to feel some very small movements that feel like gas. They call this quickening. The baby is just now starting to develop musles and rubbery like bones to actually move around. alot of women in their first pregnancy dont notice this at all because it just feels like gas bubbles. During the 6th month the baby gets much stronger and can make movements that you will actually feel. I can say from my own experience i didnt feel a real kick or roll from the baby until well into my 7th month. I would lay on my back and try so hard to feel her. but it would usually just be a quick swish for a second and then gone. Believe me, come your 7th month that baby will start knocking to come out! you will be begging him/her to go to chill out with all the kicking so you can get some sleep...LOL.

A lot of people pretty much covered the answers to this, except for the ones who said it wouldn't be until later on, I think you should defiantly feel at least some movement by now. It could be normal but you must check with your doctor first to be sure.
I do have one thing to add though, if you are a thinner woman then it is likely to feel movement earlier on, while women who are on the heavier side tend to take longer before they feel movements of the baby as well as less frequent movements. You may take this into consideration either way- base it on your judgment on the size of your body. Good Luck, best wishes.

Should be anytime now-took me about 5 1/2 -6 months before I felt it. Best advice is to drink orange juice-then lay down and pay attention. You'll know it when you feel it-it's kind of like little fluttering butterflies.
