What are the consequences of a widening conflict in the middle east?

The world is concerned about the possible widening of hostilities between the western world and the middle east. It centers around Israel. What are the possible scenarios for future events?

Just to answer some fellow yahoo colleagues, why should the UN's role be to protect only Israel. Based on the facts, the most atrocities and murders were committed by Israelis on Lebanese civilians.

In my opinion, this war is about oil. So how else can the hawkish government support such a war unless they raise the blood of the American conservative Christians and call it the war of the end times. The crusade's intention was to profit from the land of Jerusalem, but it was portrayed in religious terms to gain public support. Same thing happening again.

The US cares less about Israel, so as long as its objective are being achieved. With AIPAC on the side pushing, Israel is forced upon the Americans. In any case, one way or another, the Israeli issue is a major one and will not be resolved anytime soon. Peace is not in the short term horizon, so military conflicts will be on and off.

Think of terms of David and Goliath. Who's David (the weaker militarily, the Arabs) and who's Goliath (nowaday Israel). Jesus's return will be unnecessary if he will be on the Goliath's side, but is most necessary to rally the troops and spirits on the weaker side.

World War III as a result of Israel going nuclear against Iran and Syria if the stuff keeps up. The UN has proved useless and no consensus can be made on how to handle Hezbollah. The money is too great for France to let anything happen. The UN does not enforce it's resolutions or protect Israel as it promised to do. China, Russia and most of Europe put their economic interest above world peace so when things start happening they will be in a vacuum. Russia and most of Europe has problems with Muslim populations growing so rapidly and will not risk internal uprising more than they already are trying to deal with.

I think most of the world except americans realize what is going on and are not happy w Israel and how it has been acting the past several decades, but right now america installed several puppet regimes in Arab countries who support Israel and suppress their people's freedoms (see Egypt, ruled by dictator Mubarak, and the popular Muslim Brotherhood movement there which cannot assemble or criticize government- also "saudi" Arabia, ruled by the sauds a family of corrupt dictators who have been there since the British colonization). Egypt has 70 mil people, more than any other arab nation by far. If there were a democratic election, everyone knows the muslim brotherhood would win, like hamas and hezbollah did. Israel fights, they must fight back. If there is a revolution, which, to answer your question, I believe is now exponentially more likely as a result of the recent war, Israel will have a hell of a lot of more arabs trying to defend their arab palestinian muslim brothers who have been oppressed for decades. The only thing stopping them from fighting now is the dictator who seals the Egypt/Israel border so the US can keep writing him checks and he can keep his f-king precious throne(the people want to and have to by their religion- muslims are NOT separate especially right next door w same language and culture-other arabs!!) sidenote- don't believe the US wants a democracy in the ME- that is against their interests, as clearly they would elect Islamic leadership which would oppose it and above all oppose Israel.

To sum up, revolutions/uprisings in egypt and SA and this will lead to arabs defeating Israel- they will either run back to brooklyn, poland and russia or they will stay and have to beg for peace. Now they are arrogant, think they have all the money and power..which they almost do but God is more powerful than even their strong, organized well-funded lobbies. The world is always changing power, blacks are no longer slaves (after hundreds of years) ; it took the arabs 100 years to finally get rid of the invaders during crusades; the sun has set on the british empire, roman empire no longer exists...etc.
